When You Think About It: Global Warming

Along with Michele Bachmann and other Tea Party devotees and darlings, Presidential hopeful and Texas Governor Rick Perry denies the overwhelming amount of scientific evidence that supports the premise of Global Warming - even when that evidence is staring him right in the face!

Most people interpret Global Warming to mean that within a few years, palm trees will be growing year-round in Times Square. Well, this is an over simplification and NOT what the scientist who support the claim are saying anyway. The evidence that these scientists have gathered has led them to say the we will see the effects in the way of more severe weather, i.e. storms will be more severe and frequent (hello, Irene!) and droughts will also be more severe and frequent (hello, Somalia!). The prolonged drought in our western states (including Texas) has been devastating. The Northeast just experienced the wettest summer on record and is now suffering the economic impact. IT'S ALL HAPPENING AS THE SCIENTISTS PREDICTED IT WOULD.

Yet, naysayers like Bachmann and Perry would deny what's right before their very own eyes!Shit, the drought in Perry's home state of Texas is so severe that it has triggered the worst wildfires in the State's history. I can visualize Gov. Perry, being a self-proclaimed Conservative Christian, claiming that this is all god's will. After all, Bachmann , a kindred spirit, went that route a few weeks ago after assessing the damage caused by the latest round of disastrous weather. Well, like Hell it is! There is nothing divine about this. These consequences of our failure to respect the environment is the work of man.

Look, when you think about it, it's perfectly reasonable to assume that the shit we spew into the air and we dump into the oceans will have some type of effect. Even though there is overwhelming evidence as to the harm it is causing, you still don't have to be freakin' rocket scientist to accept that!!! Yet many Tea Party Republicans steadfastly deny what has become so obvious. And, why? To support those who support them - BIG BUSINESS - that's why!

Perhaps (with ALL respect to those who are suffering in the wildfires), Governor Perry will call for another Day of Prayer to save his State from this so-called natural disaster. I would rather see him call on his Maker to infuse him with a clue as to why these things are happening and how, if he truly respected the environment, they might be prevented.
