When I Die

Words and Photo by F LoBuono

When I die
Bury me with my weapons -
Like the ancient warriors of lore
But, not ax nor sword nor club.

When I die
Bury me with camera, pen and pad instead -
Those I used to defend
What is right and good.

When I die
Bury me with love and affection –
For the deeds of my life
As I make no apology for them.

When I die
Bury me with respect –
For I have left the world a better place
And, rest easy for having done so.

When I die
Bury me quickly –
I have no great need to be remembered
But, not so easily forgotten.

When I die
Think of me-
And smile . . .
