Today's MOZEN: Brava, Ms. Pelosi

Last night, at the end of President Trump's 3rd and final State of the Union Address that lasted well over an hour, The Speaker of the US House of Representatives, The Honorable Nancy Pelosi, stood in front of a packed gallery and millions of TV viewers around the world, and in plain sight, tore her entire copy of the speech that was given to her by the President himself to pieces. Standing behind him, she rendered the legal sized papers in half while Mr. Trump basked in the bright TV lights and to the thunderous applause of his fanatical devotees. With a look that left no doubt as to her sentiments, she cast the remnants unto her desk.

Of course, Conservatives and the President's rabid supporters were outraged at the temerity and disrespect shown by the Speaker. Some even explored legal recourse to find an appropriate punishment. Their disdain was palpable. I mean, how could she?, they cried. However, they seem to ignore the fact Mr. Trump apparently refused to shake Ms. Pelosi's hand when she offered it at the beginning of the address.

Then, their are others, like me, who applaud the bold defiance of Ms. Pelosi in the face of the baldfaced lies and blatant exaggerations* uttered just moments before AND throughout the entire 3 years of this Administration by Mr. Trump. It cannot be easy to take such an outrageous stance to defend your position against the Most Powerful Man on Earth who also happens to be an inveterate bully. In fact, it would take a WOMAN of great courage to do so. And, she sure as shit did!

This is a veritable battle for the truth - something that Mr. Trump seems to have little grasp of, or desire for. Ms. Pelosi stood in his face and said, "No, sir. No, thank you!"

In addition to the wanton lying and shameless self-promotion, The President cemented his position as a bigot, misogynist, homophobe, and braggart by awarding a man with the same characteristics -who for 25 years, spewed his gospel of intolerance on the radio, with the Nation's highest civilian honor - The Medal of Freedom. That man is Rush Limbaugh, who's exploits as a bilious bully are well documented. But, he represents what Mr. Trump and his minions WANT America to be be - UGLY. The fact that Mr. Limbaugh has been diagnosed with terminal cancer is, in the final analysis, immaterial.

It's long past time to take, and MAKE, a stand - like the one Nancy Pelosi did last night. People will say that it's all so divisive. We need to come together. Well, of course we do. However, we can never compromise the TRUE principals of The American Way to do so - like it said at the end of the old Superman TV series: A NEVER ENDING BATTLE FOR TRUTH, JUSTICE, AND THE AMERICAN WAY. Well, we need to fight for that.

In order to accomplish this we need to practice non-violent acts of defiance as The Speaker did last night. We cannot, we must not, allow America to be controlled by people so desperate to do so that they will compromise all of their ethics to control the true power in this Country. It's time, again, to stand and be counted!

So, Brava, Nancy Pelosi. Brava.
