Notes from the RNC: Day 2

F LoBuono
Having seen Cleveland only once, and that in just driving by, I must say how pleasantly surprised I am to find it to be a clean, charming little city. Derided as "The Mistake on the Lake". this city has come a long way since the Cuyahoga river burned - literally. Lots of thriving bars and restaurants as well as attractions are easily found. Pleasing architecture combines some nice, old Italianate structures with more modern ones.  I'm finding some of the greatest cities in America are the little ones that frequently get overlooked by we arrogant New Yawkas. One thing: not much street life, though - at least not yet. There were a few street protests, but they were small and peaceful. That will
change with the start of the GOP convention next week.

As for the convention, things may be quiet on the outside, but in the Quicken Loans Arena where the event will be held, we are HOPPING! We are preparing to receive almost 200 reporting crews from
all over the world. Even The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will be working with us! We have 12 "live" reporting positions within the arena alone. And, that does not include those working on the streets. It is simply a massive undertaking.

Our hours will be relatively normal for now, 9-5. That will change drastically once the shit hits the fan.

As is my practice, I'm up early, writing for you. Now, it's time to hit the streets before work and see what else this fine, little place has to offer.

More later.
